The contrasting materials used on the exterior of these new-build developments were inspired by the rich history of the surrounding area. Situated near Frome in Somerset, the village of Beckington is a picturesque location that once thrived thanks to the wool trade.
To reflect the area's heritage, oak cladding was chosen as a feature façade, offering a traditional aesthetic with a contemporary edge through its modern application. This natural material adds warmth and character to the buildings, helping them blend with their historic surroundings.
"The design of the Longmeadow development started with our desire to include natural materials for the external elevations which were primarily stone and oak.
Sourcing the volume of oak plank in lengths to avoid
joins and wastage proved a challenge, but Hewins made the procurement and
delivery of first-class oak painless. They were great to deal with and worked
hard to find solutions when needed!”
